BALI – Bali is always going off. Yes I would be referring to the year round surf here but more so its every aspect of the place. From its majestic wind whipped volcanic peaks trailing down and around to the grinding lowland populace, where even there in the belly of chaos you still find beauty weaved within the mother of all culture clashes.  For love or hate , its a unique gathering place that while at times its hard to make sense of, the back drop of what keeps us going there will always remain the same.

BAJA – Baja is one of those places I always wanted to go to. Never being a traveler who does much research before hand on the next destination of choice, I decided rather I would step through that magical doorway that more often then not, spawns coincidental happenings that one could never plan for.  When the right alignment of circumstance to came about,  I pushed south just ahead of a late season hurricane in search of a fabled point break.

Desolate, destitute, and nearly dead, humans, there animals and all of life was just clinging to carry on. If there is choice of a place to dwell, then why here? Pushing through the parched terrain and within the clouds the chasing biting flies, the often distant mirage of paradise found was only another hilltop peering out again onto the sun baked oblivion.

The arrival was sweet. A lone surfer trimming along a silver line of energy that was spawned by vortex of wind now headed far out sea. No fancy moves, nothing to show in the way of progress made either through style or turns,  just stillness while in motion and at ease within the simplicity of the moment at hand.
